Friday Morning Ramblings - As I mentioned in prior posts, I have created two Facebook pages to give me an easier platform to post photos. The first page is my personal page (Mike Olivella) on which I have been posting a "Photo of the Day" every day. These images are not limited to sports and it's been interesting to read some of the comments left by "friends" who may not have known that sports isn't the only thing I shoot. On the personal page, I have also been posting photo galleries which gives me a chance to post a greater number of photos than that which I can post on this Blog (you can only post so many photos here before I think it starts to get a little tedious scrolling and scrolling and scrolling...). I've also been a busy boy and went through all the photos from the 2009-2010 FSU football season, basketball season, etc. and have created photo galleries highlighting the seasons. I am currently working on the FSU women's basketball season and then will probably do one for baseball, followed by one for non-revenue sports as one gallery. If you so desire, send me a friend request and I will confirm it so you can see what I'm up to.
Football Season Begins - Yep, football is finally here. My contract with FSU has changed a bit and as a part of the new deal I must upload 20 photos to an FSU site within an hour after a game so FSU can create and post a photo gallery. This gallery is also picked up by Replay Photos so the photos are instantly put up for sale. While uploading for FSU, I will also upload the images to Southcreek Global Media for distribution by that wire service. Fingers crossed that through Southcreek, I can finally get an image into Sports Illustrated. With FSU QB Christian Ponder in the Heisman hunt, a boy can dream, can't he?
Thanks To All Who Have E-mailed Me News Of Your Successes - Every now and then, I receive e-mails from some who read my Blog on Scott Kelby's site on breaking into sports photography and persevered to the point where many of you are out there doing what you love to do. I thoroughly enjoy knowing that you took the bull by the horns, refused to let the idiots dictate what you can do and can't do, and are out there shooting sports at venues throughout the U.S. Muchas gracias, amigos.
That's it for today. Keep those cards and letters coming. Football pics will be up in the near future.

Good luck on getting into SI Mike, looking forward to your football posts.
Great pictures, wonderful shots, thanks for sharing, and continued success,
Not just "throughout the U.S.", Mike: we read you from across the pond too, and sometimes from further East. You will most definitely read from me if I will successfully complete a paid assignment.
Thanks for the post about sports photo gear on Scott Kelby's blog. Very useful tips for those working on a tight budget.
